COCHON 555 Goes Green With Eco-Friendly Tableware

We have had the opportunity to work with COCHON 555 and supply them with biodegradable and compostable food service products. As they tour the country they will be leaving less of a footprint by using corn and sugarcane based products.

COCHON 555 is a culinary event featuring five chefs, five pigs, and five wine makers in a friendly competition for a cause.

After a successful 10 event series in 2009, COCHON 555 is on the road again. In a competition like no other, five chefs are challenged to use a whole pig to create a series of dishes for an audience of epicureans, noteworthy judges and trade. Together they are saving heritage breeds through eating.

Each event includes the following:

  • Over 750 pounds of heritage pork
  • Family-owned wineries showing their best
  • Whole Pig breakdown demonstration
  • “Swine & Spirits” mixologists showcase
  • Meat & Greet VIP Lounge featuring artisan cheese, oysters and reserve wine

Trellis Earth Products Now Ship Free

All Trellis Earth biodegradable food service products ship free to the continental United States starting March 22, 2010.

Trellis Earth addresses both sustainability and the desire of consumers and municipalities to have toxin-free, zero waste management programs that are “earth friendly” and thereby helps food service companies lower their carbon footprint.

Trellis Earth makes a complete line of biodegradable bags, cutlery and deliware.

Trellis Earth engineers its products to:

  • Contain as much biomass as possible, and
  • Biodegrade in the anaerobic conditions of a landfill or in a biodigestor.

Trellis Earth addresses both sustainability and the desire of consumers and municipalities to have toxin-free, zero waste management programs that are “earth friendly” – which is the objective of sustainability.

Trellis Earth product benefits:

  • High heat tolerance – does not breakdown in transit or in use.
  • Non GMO corn used (grown and harvested in China for non-food product manufacturing)
  • FDA certified
  • Priced to compete with conventional products to ease commercial consumer adoption.

We accomplish these objectives by blending our resins with a mix of biologically produced polymers (e.g. PLA), biomass fillers (plant starches) and biodegradable polymers (shortened molecular length polymers specifically designed to easily succumb to microbiological activity). We also add patented proteins that accelerate anaerobic biodegradation and the polymeric breakdown that precedes biodegradation.

Many critics of biodegradable plastics technology are not familiar with this technology and are only disparaging old technology when they denounce efforts to introduce biodegradability via anaerobic microbiological activity.

Trellis Earth is working with industry leaders and consultants to promote a method of testing the rates of biodegradation of bioplastics that can be adopted by the food packaging industry and give consumers confidence that, in the modern landfill environment, Trellis products are not a long term contributor to landfill volume.

We carry a complete line of Trellis Earth products at the best prices online. They are in stock and ship same day. Please see them online at: www.mygreensupply.com.

Our Biodegradable Cutlery Doesn't Melt!

We are pleased to announce that our biodegradable cutlery does not melt when stirring coffee, cutting brownies, eating soup, or any other activities involving warm-hot foods. Our bioplastic forks, knives, spoons, and sporks, hold up to high heat and are still biodegradable. (Our cutlery also happens to be the most affordable premium cutlery on the market). It can be found at farmer's markets, schools, pasta suppers, homes, offices, school cafeterias, food festivals and a growing list of events and locations.

What are Bioplastics?

Bioplastics are biodegradable and, in some cases, compostable plastics derived from renewable raw materials such as starch from corn, potato, tapioca, or other plants and vegetables, combined with biodegradable polymers, to create products that reduce the impact on the environment in absolute carbon footprint terms.

Bioplastics are designed to biodegrade via natural processes. Traditional plastic bags and food containers require great amounts of energy and raw materials (natural gas, oil and coal) to produce and recycle. Only approximately 1-3% of plastic bags are recycled and plastics in our landfills take hundreds or thousands of years to degrade and hurt our environment by leaching toxins.

The time needed to degrade or compost bioplastics varies and it is important to make distinctions between biodegradable and compostable.

See our cutlery online at: http://www.mygreensupply.com. It is available in full cases or it can be found broken down into packs of 100 for the ever day consumer looking to make a difference.

Jora JK125 & JK270 Composters Back In Stock

With a JK125 or JK270 composter, it is very easy and fast to produce your own nutritious compost.

The JK125/270 allows you to make perfect compost from your kitchen waste hygienically, quickly and with minimum effort.

What is different about the JK125/ 270 compared to other compost tumblers?

The key features of the JK125/270 composter are:

  • It is insulated which is great for any climate and can extend the composting season in colder areas
  • Easy to rotate
  • Both models have dual compartments
  • Rodent-proof design

Rotating composters

Regular mixing is necessary for successful composting for two reasons:

  • Fresh waste is brought into direct contact with decaying waste, increasing the efficiency of the process,
  • Air is allowed into the mixture, providing the oxygen that is vital for the process

The JK125/270 composter is constructed for ease and simplicity of rotation - it's simply turned by hand whenever new waste is put in.

Insulated composters

The composting process generates heat, and the different micro-organisms start working at different temperatures. The insulation in the JK125/270 composter allows the temperature to rise higher than 160 F (70C), resulting in the quickest and most efficient composting of your organic kitchen waste. At these temperatures the process is so rapid that fresh waste starts to break down before it has a chance to rot and attract vermin and flies.

Because of its integral insulation, the JK125/270 will continue working through winter, long after other composters have stopped completely.

Dual compartments

The JK125/270 is divided into two compartments. One is being filled while the compost in the other matures. Once the compartment being filled can take no more, the mature compost is emptied from the other compartment, and the cycle begins again.

Rodent Proof

The JK 125/270 is sited off the ground so there is no possibility of rodents or other pests gaining access to the waste in the machine.

Technical Specifications

The JK 125 and JK 270 is made of galvanized sheet metal for many years of rust protection!

The Green Supply Company Now Distributes MolecuLoc - Green Spill Recovery & Mitigation

The Green Supply Company is please to announce they distribute MolecuLoc, Moleculoc has a porous structure that can accommodate a wide variety of cations, such as Na+, K+, Ca2+, Mg2+ and others. These positive ions are rather loosely held and can readily be exchanged for others in a contact solution. This property of positive and negative ions, when used as a spill mitigation application, encapsulates the Hydrocarbon Molecules and electronically binds those molecules
to the Moleculoc product.

Commercial and Domestic Uses

Amorphous Alumina Silica are widely used as ion-exchange beds in domestic and commercial water purification, softening, and other applications. In chemistry, these sieves are used to separate molecules (only molecules of certain sizes and shapes can pass through), as traps for molecules so they can be analyzed.
Silicas have the potential of providing precise and specific separation of gases including the removal of H2O, CO2 and SO2 from low-grade natural gas streams. Other separations include noble gases, N2, O2,freon and formaldehyde. However, at present, the true potential to improve the handling of such gases in this manner remains unknown.

Petrochemical industry
Moleculoc confines petroleum molecules in small spaces, which causes changes in their structure and reactivity. The Hydrogen (prepared by ion-exchange), part of the Hydrocarbon molecule is then released harmlessly into the atmosphere. The new molecule is now inert and can be safely discharged into a land fill. Moleculoc also serves as a fire suppressant when broadcast over a spill. Because it encapsulates the liquid, it interferes with the fumes required for ignition. Moleculoc can be reused up to seven times before being discarded to the landfill making it price efficient and an environmentally sound product.

Animal welfare
In concentrated animal growing facilities, Animal Hospitals, Vet Clinics, Barns, and other areas contaminated with animal feces and body fluids, the addition of Moleculoc is a cost effective way to mitigate contamination and spills. It can also be used in general odor elimination for all animal odors.

Medical

Moleculoc is proven to mitigate bodily fluids such as urine, blood and others. Due to the nature of its ability to
capture the fluid at the molecular level, electronically bind the molecules, and release the Hydrogen molecule safely, it proves to be the best method of quick mitigation.

Marine

Moleculoc, being such a porous material, floats. When broad cast over a body of water or on a beach it absorbs the Hydrocarbon and not water, thus electronically encapsulating the pollutant. At that point it can be scooped up thru a sieve and properly discharged in a local landfill. This ability gives Moleculoc prospective uses in Waste Water Treatment Facilities, Oil spill mitigation, de-chlorination and other water purification applications.

To inquire about MolecuLoc, regarding prices, samples, etc.: please contact
Christian Coughlin at: chris@mygreensupply.com or directly at: (860) 402-7377.
